The Maverick Course Learning AssistantforStudent Success (MavCLASS) app is a personal learningassistantdesigned to empower MSU students by motivatingproactive,self-regulated learning behaviors that have been shown tocorrelatewith positive learning outcomes (Schunk, 2005; Wolters andHoops,2015). By providing study, planning and action prompts andhelpsupport (such as organizing notes, conducting research,draftingoutlines, etc.) well in advance of assignment due dates,the appseeks to scaffold the process of building a more active,engagedframework of self-regulated learning behaviors that willlead toimproved efficacy, lower anxiety, higher attainment ofcontentmastery, better performance on assignments and assessments,andlifelong learning skills among MSU learners.
